Create volcanoes, build a robot, or become a roadrunner! Each day we will explore a different science topic utilizing all the expertise the Museum has to offer! Classes are for campers in 1st through 5th grade. Classes will meet from 9am-4pm. Aftercare is available from 4 pm-5pm for an additional fee.
December 29 Arthropod Adventures!- What do lobsters, cockroaches, and centipedes all have in common? Join us for a day of exploring the exciting world of animals with multiple body parts, exoskeletons, and segmented legs and figuring out what makes an arthropod an arthropod. We will delve into the variety of shapes and sizes of these fascinating critters, the wide range of habitats and niches they fill, and explore the fascinating roles that these important critters play in the environment.
AFTER CARE Aftercare is available from 4pm-5pm for an additional fee of $10. You may register for aftercare the day of, or you may contact, Heather MacCurdy at Heather.MacCurdy@state.nm.us to reserve. Aftercare can be paid by check or cash at the time of pick-up. No discount available for member. WINTER WEATHER EVENTS Safety is our primary concern for both our teachers and your campers. We will follow Museum protocol in regards to weather related closure or delays. In the event of Museum closure or delay, make-up classes will be offered if possible and at the sole discretion of Museum personnel. Please call the Museum Weather Number at 841-2800 option 8 for delays and closures. YOU NEED TO KNOW All campers must be picked-up by 4:00 PM. Campers still at the Winter Science Program after 4:10 PM will automatically be enrolled in our aftercare program. Payment for aftercare must be made by cash or check at time of camper pick-up.
-There is no discount for multiple children. -Our camp instructors are teachers or scientists. They have all completed first aid and CPR. All instructors submit to a background check before teaching camp. -Please note that Museum staff cannot take responsibility for dispensing prescription or over-the-counter medications. -Campers are required to provide their own lunch, snack, and drink. Campers must wear appropriate clothing and shoes for active learning.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
There will be no additional fee when you complete your camp purchase.
