Lecture Description

Race and racism have long been at the center of human conflict and tragedy. They take many forms. Cast prejudice. Mass extermination. Enslavement. Segregation. Voting restrictions. Those and other manifestations remind us that prejudice is not monolithic. It takes many shapes and forms from place to place and from era to era. Dr. Eric Jackson will examine the origins, impact, and legacy of racism and prejudice in the United States. He'll use a historical perspective to outline concrete steps to improve race relations in the United States for all people who want to truly engage in the process.
