Vicky Emerson:

"Her songs thoughtfully reflect on love and loss. with graceful turns of
phrase and affecting, country-tinged melodies that her lovely, hushed
voice brushes with emotion." -CityPages

".smoothly executed Americana-folk music with inspirational musical
arrangements and thought-provoking lyricism." -Maverick Magazine

The dusty gravel roads that led Vicky Emerson home to the small farm in Wisconsin where she was raised have yet again beckoned her.  After living in New York City, then San Francisco, Emerson has returned back to her roots and claimed Minneapolis as home again.

Over the last ten years, Emerson toured on a national basis creating a fiercely loyal fan base with her trademark brand of Americana, a blending of folk and blues, as well as her wickedly sharp sense of humor. Emerson has honed her impeccable live performance skills with a voice that can rattle the rafters and in the next breath draw the listener to the edge of their seat with her gorgeously smooth singing. Jon Bream at the Minneapolis Star Tribune agreed with this sentiment by stating, "Her molasses voice, sometimes dusky, sometimes sweet, is consistently alluring."

Even though she hasn't lived in the Midwest for a decade, she has always kept one line in the water by returning to Minneapolis for shows and recording albums at the prestigious Library Studio with esteemed producer, Matt Patrick (John Mark Nelson, The Brighton.) Patrick said, "Vicky has substantial depth to her writing that causes a desire in me to match it equally with the production."

Patrick produced the wildly successful "Long Ride" album and the introspective beauty "Dust & Echoes." Both albums received international and local praise comparing Emerson to popular Americana songbirds, Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin. Maverick Magazine from the UK complimented Emerson by saying "This is smoothly executed Americana folk-music with inspirational musical arrangements and thought-provoking lyricism."

Emerson continues to write from an honest place, a place where she has been a witness, an observer and occasionally, the recipient of a story through a dream sequence. CityPages said "Her songs thoughtfully reflect on love and loss...with graceful turns of phrase and affecting, country-tinged melodies that her lovely, hushed voice brushes with emotion."

Her talented band consists of Matt Patrick (Greycoats), Steve Goold (Sara Barrielles),  and Aaron Fabbrini (Sarah Groves). Emerson continues to sell out venues with the band and with her solo shows.

Why return back to Minneapolis? "My husband was offered jobs in a couple of different cities and one of them was Minneapolis. At the time, I was pregnant with our second child. We measured the move back with positives and negatives and the only negative we could come up with was the long winter.  Ultimately, we realized that returning to a place filled with family and friends coupled with a dynamic music community was the best place to live and raise our children."

Emerson is a wife and the mother of two young children but continues to write music, perform locally and tours on a limited basis. A new album is slated for release in 2015.
