Point Richmond Jazz presents SOLÈNE LEVAN
At eighteen, violinist and singer Solène Le Van is already widely regarded as an exceptionally prodigious, versatile, and sensitive musician. She was born in Colmar, France on July 24, 1997 and moved to the U.S. at the age of five. At fifteen years old, she was accepted into Princeton University at age 16.
She has given over 300 concerts in various venues, including in the 26th International Jazz Festival in Munster, France. She made her orchestral debut at the age of five with the Cypress Pops Orchestra. In 2012, she was invited to perform with her family in the Vianden Castle in Luxembourg "International Vianden Festival Series" under the patronage of the US embassy.
Versatile on many instruments and in a great variety genres of music from classical to jazz and beyond. From the age of five on, she has been a soloist with The Le Van Family Musicians, an ensemble featuring her father, pianist Eric Le Van, her sister, violinist and singer Sarah Le Van, and her brother, pianist and singer Sean Le Van. They have performed internationally in both America and Europe to great acclaim. Ms. Le Van has been featured as a soloist or with her family ensemble on FRANCE3 TV, the Disney Channel, NBC TV, KDOC TV, PAX TV. At Point Richmond Jazz she will be joined by pianist Michael Le Van on piano, Benjamin May, bass, and Bay Area drummer Jack Dorsey.
