Lecture Series: A Half-Century of Global Seismology at Albuquerque Seismolog Lab
The Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory (ASL), one of the US Geological Survey's global seismic observatories, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. The USGS detects and locates more than 30,000 earthquakes a year, using data from seismic stations around the world.  In this presentation, Dr. Gee will describe the contributions of a half-century of data and observations from ASL and the National Earthquake Information Center for earthquake monitoring.

Lind Gee is the Scientist-in-Charge of the USGS Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory (ASL).  She received her Ph.D. from MIT in Geophysics and spent 15 years at UC Berkeley at the Berkeley Seismological Lab.  She joined the USGS in 2005.  The ASL supports the operation of over 150 seismic stations around the world.

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
