WHAT'S THE BUZZ? | REMIXX @ Bread & Salt
Bread & Salt, 1955 Julian Ave., Barrio Logan
San Diego, CA 92113 United States
Sunday, September 27, 2015

Music of David Ludwig, Schubert, Chopin, Puccini, Vaughn Williams, Daniel Dorff, Michael Torke

narrator, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, percussion

Inspired by nature, this concert features both traditional and contemporary works. Living composer David Ludwig evokes everything nature has to offer  from flourishing flowers to chattering cicadas in Haiku Catharsis. Flowers take center stage with Puccini's Chrysanthemum Quartet, which is a serene musical elegy composed for an Italian nobleman. The yellow chrysanthemum signifies the expression of sorrow. Spotlighting nature's strength and fortitude is the Perennial Trio by San Diego composer Daniel Dorff. Now it is time to meet the bees in traditional works by Schubert, Chopin and Rimsky Korsakov, which will be performed alongside Vaughn Williams ethereal The Lark Ascending.  Mother Nature's beauty and gentleness can be felt in the magnificence of this Vaughan Williams masterpiece. Also advocating the beauty and strength of nature, you will enjoy the lush timbre of flute, cello and marimba, which is featured in After the Forest Fire by Michael Torke. Join us to celebrate nature and bees!
