Does your young one express an interest in birds? Do you wish to share your interest with your child? Join us as we explore what we know about birds, learn ways to watch them, and find out if different birds live in the city and the country spending two of our classes in the "City" in the Kiwanis Learning Garden Outdoor Classroom, and two of our classes in the "Country" at the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center in Cedar Crest. Explorations in the exhibit Birds of Paradise round out this Family Class. Time choices (summer only): Participants choose to attend all Friday or Saturday mornings 10 a.m. to noon, or Saturday afternoons 1 to 3 p.m. Please note: our location will change between the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center in Cedar Crest [link to https://sites.google.com/a/aps.edu/smnhc/directions] and the Kiwanis Learning Garden Outdoor Classroom (across the street from the Museum) as per the Class Title Descriptions below. Prehistoric Preschool is a Museum program for 3- to 5- year-olds and their adult companions to explore natural history topics in a supportive and fun atmosphere. All activities are child-centered, hands-on, and age appropriate. Classes include two hours of crafts, songs, games, puppet shows, investigating specimens from the Museum's collections, Museum visits, and a fun and healthy snack. Registration is pro-rated if you join after the first class starts, please contact for availability.
All class participants must be accompanied by an adult. No more than two children may be registered per adult companion and no more than two adult companions may accompany any one child. Permission for attendance by siblings younger than 3 is made on a case-by-case basis with Early Childhood Educator. Maximum class size is 12 children and their adult companions.
