Blending instrumental and vocal virtuosity and experimentation with theatricality firmly rooted in klezmer and Yiddish tradition, the internationally acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning Klezmatics brought the revival of klezmer into the rock era, blazing the path for the klezmer renaissance with one foot in the shtetl and the other in the downtown avant-garde. Founded in 1986, the Klezmatics have collaborated with diverse musicians including Itzhak Perlman, Arlo Guthrie, and Israeli pop icon Chava Alberstein and worked with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner on A Dybbuk. _____________________________________________________________
