Universal Design Case Studies & Accessibility Code Update with Gilda Puente-Peters, GPPA Architects
A presentation and illustration of the principals of universal design as applied in case studies of inclusive and inspirational facilities. Understanding ergonomics and the impact of design solutions on the functionality and improvement in the quality of life for people with a wide variety of abilities as well as the benefits of mainstreaming a universal design will be discussed. Course will also feature an update of the key technical accessibility requirements of the 2013 CBC and 2010 ADA Standards.
TIME: Afternoon Class - Class begins at 11 am and runs until approximately 4:30 pm (lunch/snack break
from 1:00 to 1:30 pm)

About the Instructor:
Gilda Puente-Peters, CASp has over 29 years of specialized experience in Access Compliance and served as a Subject Matter Expert on the Certified Access Specialist Program committee for the Division of the State Architect, to advise in the development of the California Certified Access Specialist certification program. GPPA has worked under contract with the California Division of the State Architect and Office of Universal Design providing accessibility compliance plan review, developing a state-wide Access Plan Review Training System and provided trainings throughout the state.
