Hot Tickets: Boston

February 23, 2012 9:00 AM

Here are this week's Hot Tickets in the Boston area. Check back every Thursday at noon, EST for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Starts TONIGHT! February 23 I The Zoo Story  This one-act play concerns two characters, Peter and Jerry. Peter is a middle-class publishing executive with a wife, two daughters, two cats and two parakeets. Jerry is an isolated and disheartened man. These men meet on a park bench in New York City's Central Park. Jerry is desperate to have a meaningful conversation with another human being. He intrudes on Peter's peaceful state by interrogating him and forcing him to listen to stories like "THE STORY OF JERRY AND THE DOG", and the reason behind his visit to the zoo. The action is linear, unfolding in front of the audience in "real time". The elements of ironic humor and unrelenting dramatic suspense are brought to a climax when Jerry brings his victim down to his own savage level.

Friday, February 24 I Caravan of Thieves at the me&thee coffeehouse  For the past three years, this Caravan of Thieves has roamed the North American continent recruiting a family of avid thrill seekers at their high energy shows. Driving gypsy jazz rhythms, acoustic guitars, upright bass and violin lay the foundation for mesmerizing vocal harmonies and fantastic stories.  It's theatrical and humorous. It's musical and intense. It entertains, dazzles and defies classification while welcoming the spectator to join the band throughout the performance in momentary fits of claps, snaps and sing-alongs. If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton's house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.

Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 I Guys, Gals and Glitter!  Are you "good, giving and game?" You will be after this delicious 50/50 split between the sparkling ladies of Rogue Burlesque and the smokin' hot men of Sirlesque!  Full of equal-opportunity striptease and comedy, GUYS, GALS AND GLITTER promises to tease, seduce, baffle, and entertain you! Whether you bring a honey to the show, or find one there, "Guys, Gals, and Glitter" promises to make you glisten with delight!

Saturday, February 25 I Stiletto Film Fest  A celebration of female filmmakers held in February recognizing "Women in Horror Month." The Stiletto Film Fest is in it's 2nd year and is shaping up to be an event you won't want to miss! The fest will feature a variety of indie movie shorts and feature films made by women for the horror genre. There will be a very select group of judges this year and a women's Q & A panel. Ask these ladies anything you want to know about their experiences in the horror industry and how they came to love what they do.

Saturday, February 25 I Naked Girls Reading: Literary Boston  Boston has inspired much good writing (and writers) in its long history. Join The Naked Girls as they explore the literature of "The Hub of The Universe" from Edgar Allan Poe (born in Boston in 1809) to Dennis Lehane (a Dot rat since 1965) with a stop at Good Will Hunting in between.
