Hot Tickets: Seattle

February 02, 2012 12:00 PM
Here are this week's hot tickets in the Seattle area. Check back every Thursday at noon, PST for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

TONIGHT, February 2 | Fleurs d'Egypte Dance Co. presents LUSH - Seattle's premier international dance company takes the audience on an alluring voyage that will have everyone shimmying and swaying to an international groove. In 90 minutes, you will be transported from your seat to the nightclubs of Egypt, Carnival in Brazil, the Moulin Rouge in Paris, a luau in the South Pacific and back to the exciting new world of World dance theater. Sit back, sip your champagne, wear your best sparkles and baubles, and enjoy the ride! Advance ticket sales have ended, but don't let that stop you.

TONIGHT, February 2 through Saturday, February 4 | FINAPALOOZA IV! - Finaghty's in Snohomish's annual party and festival is a 'thank you' to their dedicated customers and friends. Cristina Bautista + Gold Parts, Star Anna, T-Bagging Bandits, The Juliettes, Geoff Tate and Massy Ferguson are among the artists rounding out their impressively diverse lineup.

Friday, February 3 | Fremont First Friday at Brown Paper Tickets - Come hang out with us! Our February featured artist is Starheadboy. (It's free.)

Friday, February 3 | Cabin Fever Screening and Q&A with actor Rider Strong - Join EMP as they screen the bloody Horror film Cabin Fever, written and directed by Eli Roth and starring Rider Strong, who will be on hand for a Q&A following the film. A group of five college graduates rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus, which attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals. Perfect for horror fans, or anyone who had a crush on Shawn Hunter as a youth.

Friday, February 3 | Timepieces - For the past three years, Seattle Playwrights' Collective has gradually been growing their Page to Stage Showcase from a staged reading event to a fully produced festival of short plays by Puget Sound region playwrights. On February 3, 2012 at the Ethnic Cultural Center, they'll unveil the latest edition of the showcase "Timepieces," nine short plays written on the theme of time. Featuring local playwrights John C. Davenport, Steve Gins, Leonard Goodisman, Craig Kenworthy, Morgan Ludlow, Keith McGregor, Elena Naskova, Catherine Cole Rogers, and Daniel Tarker, "Timepieces" offers theatregoers an evening of comedies, dramas, and experimental pieces that explore various aspects of this theme of time from scientific concepts like evolution, time travel, and the theory of parallel universes to more human angles like redemption, young love, and mortality.

Saturday, February 4 | Sci-Fi Saturday Secret Matinee - The Grand Illusion presents a cliffhanger episode of the original BUCK ROGERS SERIAL from 1939, plus a CLASSIC SCI-FI FEATURE -- secret favorites, rarities, and cult classics from 1919-1974! What's not to love?

Monday, February 6 | WHITE HOT - Spearheaded by producer Mark Siano, the production of WHITE HOT has assembled some of the best talent in the Seattle area, including director Braden Abraham (Associate Artistic Director of The Seattle Repertory Theatre), costume designer Jennifer Zeyl (recipient of the Stranger Genius Award in Theatre), set designer Andrea Bush (who previously worked on Smith's production of SEXTET), actors Hannah Victoria Franklin (SEXTET, Peter Nachtrieb's HUNTER/GATHERERS) and Ray Tagavilla (THE MISTAKES MADELINE MADE, winner of Seattle Magazine's Spotlight Award), and many others.
