January 27, 2012 10:17 AM

Here are this week's Hot Tickets in the New York area. Check back every Friday at noon, EST for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

TONIGHT! Friday, January 27 I Pizza Man  Julie and Alice are at their wits end. Everything has gone wrong. Julie has lost her job. Alice's lover has gone back to his wife. They are frustrated with no outlet. What would a guy do? They decide to rape the pizza delivery guy. Will they find any satisfaction and power in their lives?  Do any of us?

TONIGHT! Friday, January 27 I Stranger Than Paradise  Jarmusch's second feature-length film, "Stanger Than Paradise" would launch both Jarmusch and No Wave Cinema into the international spotlight when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and won the Caméra d'Or prize. Following a self-styled New York hipster who is paid a surprise visit by his pretty 16-year-old Hungarian cousin, "Stranger than Paradise" examines the duo's initial hostility and indifference that transitions into a strange affection between two exiles. Continuing on to win the Golden Leopard at the 1984 Locarno International Film Festival, the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Picture "Stranger than Paradise" captures not only the spirit of New York City in the 1980s but also the talent and vision of a burgeoning American cinematic voice.

Saturday, January 28 I Jacques Brel Returns  Presented by Dan Whitten, Mark Beigelman, Peter Martin and Tiger Theatricals, "Jacques Brel RETURNS" is a new cabaret  production featuring highlights from "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" as well as Brel songs not in the original score. Created by Dan Whitten and Mark Beigelman, who produced the hit revival and CD in 2006/2007, and featuring musical direction by Rick Hip-Flores, the evening features Jacques Brel favorites including "Carousel," "My Childhood," "If We Only Have Love," "Ne Me Quitte Pas," "The Bulls," "Jackie,"  "Amsterdam" and "I Loved." "Having produced the 2006/2007 revival of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris at The Zipper, it's been rewarding to revisit this material with such an exciting rotating cast of artists," says creator Dan Whitten. "Audiences have been loving the show which has more of a 'salon' feeling because of our International Artists Micheline Van Hautem, Karen Kohler and Jean Brassard.
