January 18, 2012 10:00 AM

Here are this week's Hot Tickets for New Years Eve in the Chicago area. Check back every Monday at noon, CST for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Thursday, January 19 I Dinner at Floriole Featuring Greg Hall of Virtue Cider  Join Floriole and Virtue Cider's Greg Hall for a feast that's sure to take the chill out of your cold January evening. Each course will be paired with a delicious cider, specially chosen to perfectly compliment the dish. Featuring a special advance tasting of unreleased Virtue Cider. The menu for the evening will include: gougeres with caramel apple jam paired with a special preview of Virtue Redstreak English Style Draft, seared scallops with brussel sprouts and toasted hazelnuts paired with Tom Oliver Herefordshire Dry and for the main-course, cider-braised rabbit with savory polenta, picked herbs and rabbit bacon paired with Etienne Dupont Normandy Cidre Brut Bouche.

Thursday, January 19 I Samuel Beckett, Andre the Giant, and the Crickets - RHINOFEST 2012  While living in rural France, Irish Nobel-winning playwright Samuel Beckett drove his friend's son, Andre Rousimoff, to school, because the 12-year-old boy was too big to fit in the local school bus. This boy would grow up to become the iconic professional wrestler, Andre the Giant. Inspired by a true story, this one-act imagines one particular drive to school, chock full of Beckett's existential absurdities and Andre's zest for life.

Starts Friday, January 20 I Home/Land  A brother sings his sister to sleep with the tale of a glorious tree whose roots grow on both sides of a border. A pair of young lovers dance on their wedding night, then wade across the Río Grande hand-in-hand as their honeymoon. A precocious seven year-old in Jordan becomes an unconventional entrepreneur to pay for her family's immigration. A nine year-old joins the guerrilla in El Salvador after the murder of his parents. A boat hurls two dozen immigrants across the Gulf of Mexico. A father and son rehearse new identities for a new life. So begin the epic quests of "Home/Land." With its characteristic humanity, creativity, and optimism, the award-winning APTP ensemble brings to vivid theatrical life these stories of desire, risk, resilience, heroism, love, and hope as immigrant families strive to stay together and make a better life in the land they've come to call home.

Saturday, January 21 I Alice Underground - RHINOFEST 2012  A dark and deeply charming reinvention of Lewis Carroll's classic, this 28-minute black & white film, produced by Kevin Kline in 1984, features Judith Harding along with Bay Area alt-performance luminaries Ed Holmes and Robert Ernst. Kate Kline May is an internationally exhibited photographer and acclaimed documentary filmmaker (Shakespeare's Children, 1996).

Sunday, January 22 I Feminine Comique Master Class  Available to graduates of Feminine Comique Level 1 & 2, the Master Class is a one time, three hour seminar with stand-up comic and creator of Feminine Comique, Cameron Esposito, that focuses on the daily work of being a comic, including: creating a plan for showcasing - at comedy clubs, festivals & independent rooms, producing a show, hosting skills, successfully utilizing an open mic and identifying your natural voice & persona.
