Hot Tickets: San Francisco

December 06, 2011 12:00 PM

Every Tuesday at noon, PST, Brown Paper Tickets will post upcoming events happening in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here are hot tickets for events coming up. Check back for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Tuesday, December 6 | DIY Holidays: Granola Gifts: Take the holidays back into your own hands and kitchen! DIY Holidays gives you the inspiration and skills to not only master your own holiday feast but give gifts that warm the heart and stomach. Michelle Pusateri from Nana Joes Granola is here to teach us her method of making granola and share her family history around the product that we love.

Thursday, December 8 | Bad Hamlet: It's not just rotten in the state of Denmark, it's rougher and rawer than ever before. BAD HAMLET: The Bootleg Quarto of 1603 tears off its Elizabethan collar and bares its teeth! Rarely done and never done well, Do It Live! Productions has unearthed an 'illegitimate' copy of Shakespeare's immortal classic, bootlegged by an underpaid actor from the original production! And rest assured, he remembered... well, the gist of it, anyway.

Thursday, December 8 | Ladies In Waiting: No Nude Men finishes off an amazing year with an evening of three one acts by local playwrighting superstars Alison Luterman and Claire Rice, and former Bay Area resident, Norwegian transplant Hilde Susan Jaegtnes. Each of these three fantasies is a supernatural tale exploring the varied feminine archetypes that form the foundation of our society's gender stereotypes and biases

Saturday, December 10 | The Revolutionary Nutcracker Sweetie - The Kidz Version: In Krissy Keefer's Revolutionary Nutcracker Sweetie, Clara is an undocumented worker who works for the wealthiest family in town, the McGreeds. Our story opens just as the biggest bash of the year is beginning - the McGreed's holiday party.  To the McGreeds' dismay, their wayward gay son, a pink Mohawk-sporting, Che-shirt wearing Drosselmeyer, crashes the party and gives Clara a freedom-fighting Nutcracker doll from South Africa. Together Clara and the Nutcracker go on a journey of self-discovery and realization where they run into a homeless Sugar Plum Fairy, an Angel of Resistance, and a Snow Queen mourning the melting of the Ice Caps. Featuring Grrrl Brigade, Nol Simonse, Sonya Smith, Sarah Bush, Stella Adelman, Bruce "Mui" Ghent, Leila Baradaran, Fredrika Keefer, Tina Banchero and Dance Mission's Youth Program.
