November 08, 2011 12:00 PM
Every Tuesday at noon, PST, Brown Paper Tickets will post upcoming events happening in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here are hot tickets for events coming up. Check back for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

TODAY through Wednesday, November 9 | 36th Annual American Indian Film Festival: The last two nights of this festival, run by American Indian Film Institute (AIFI). The American Indian Film Festival will premiere over 70 innovative feature films, shorts, public service, music videos and documentaries of USA American Indian and Canada First Nation communities. Founded in 1975, AIFF has established itself as the premiere Native film festival in North America. This year's selection continues to celebrate the Festival's tradition for excellence and diversity with powerful performances and new cinematic expression by cutting-edge media makers.

Starts Wednesday, November 9 | 3rd i's Ninth Annual San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival: 3rd i's SFISAFF 2011 will present 16 programs featuring films from India, Pakistan, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka,Tibet, and the US. Highlights include: a special Focus on Sri Lanka, with filmmaker Asoka Handagama in attendance; South Asian Americans shine this year, with seven programs featuring films by American filmmakers (four programs showcasing Bay Area talent); as always, docs and indie-narratives take centerstage; and our Saturday Night at the Castro takes Bollywood in a whole new direction.

Thursday, November 10 | Renegade Theatre Experiment presents 9 CIRCLES by Bill Cain: Bill Cain's award-winning psychological drama follows a young, honorably discharged soldier and the twists and turns in his mind as he is prosecuted for rape and murder he may have committed against Iraqi civilians during the war.

Friday, November 11 | Movies on the Bus: Network: Movies on the Bus attendees pile in at 8:00, watch some shorts and get cozy. They start the film and watch the first half, and around 9:30 stop by the secret tea garden in Oakland! Have some tea and talk to the crazy guy and the bird, then pile back on the bus to watch the end of the film. This installment of Movies on the Bus is the 1976 film Network, which won four Academy Awards. This film clearly shows a future of TV that includes reality television and the eventuality of murder for bad ratings.

Tuesday, November 15 | Lucky Peach launch party: Issue two of LUCKY PEACH (the new food/writing quarterly from McSweeney's, David Chang of Momofuku, and writer Peter Meehan) hits newsstands on November 15. Naturally, they're celebrating. $12 includes a copy of the magazine, food, and drink. Profits will go to 826 Valencia, McSweeney's nonprofit tutoring center.
