Friday, October 28- Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band @ Balkan Cafe Zlatne Uste will play for your dancing and listening pleasure! Balkan Cafe is a lovely intimate venue with a good sized dance floor and a rare opportunity to be part of a dance with multiple circles, in both the dance and social senses. Delicious Balkan-inspired gourmet food by MammaMila as well as thirst quenching drinks. Zlatne Uste Brass Band has been around for over a decade and has played with such icons as Saban Bajramovic, Esma Redzepova and many other legendary Roma musicians from Eastern Europe. The foremost presenters of traditional Balkan dance music in the US, Zlatne Uste's repertoire spans the most important stops in the traditional music of the Balkans -- Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Gypsy traditions.



Saturday, October 29 - The Strange Box of Dr. Oddbody Join Dr. Avery Oddbody and Pit House team The Baldwins as they take original horror story titles from the audience and create three, completely improvised one-act plays of the horrific and the macabre. Here, a note from Dr. Oddbody himself: "Welcome, friend - step through the doorway, that's it. The rain can be bitter here on Blood Island. But I like the sound it makes on the leaded windows my grandfather put in Castle Oddbody. Oh, but do come in, do come in! Yes, sit there, just there on that large chair made out of horse hair and Gordunni fungus. Make yourself comfortable. What's that? Why, yes, this year I will be conducting another experiment in the mysterious, the horrific, the terrifying. You must come and see it. It will be so interesting. I think this is the beginning of something very special. I'll have Rolf, my servant pour us some Asti Spumante and turn the lights down. Now, if you'll be so kind as to close your eyes for one moment and put... your... hand... in this box..."



Saturday, October 29 - VEG-O-WEEN Local Vegans and Swanky Manhattan Restaurant Team Up for Frighteningly Tasty Halloween Bash to Benefit Mercy For Animals. Veg friendly foodies: put on your Halloween best! Veg-O-Ween, New York's vegan Halloween dance party, returns for a second year at Crema, an upscale Mexican restaurant happily taking on the vegan challenge. Adding hand passed gourmet tapas and a happy hour to the delicious mix, this year's party promises to be bigger, better, and a bit fancier than the last. Of course Veg-O-Weens' commitment to Mercy for Animals remains the same. Co-organizers Jessica Mahady of Veggie Conquest and Robyn Lazara of the Make the Connection Project are pleased to announce that proceeds will benefit this animal protection nonprofit organization. The party will be emceed by vegan comedienne Kate Wolff and DJed by vegan DJ Lil Ray. Guests are encouraged enter both the costume contest and raffle to compete for prizes from local and national vegan vendors.



Saturday, October 29 - WFMU RadioVision Saturday Symposium WFMU presents a full day of presentations and panel discussions about radio's future as it takes on new forms in the digital age. Featuring Ira Glass, Tom Scharpling, Marc Maron, Iceland's Best Party, Rebecca Gates, Vicki Bennett, DJ /rupture, Andy Baio, Gabriella Coleman, Kickstarter, Kenneth Goldsmith, Brooke Gladstone and many more.

Sunday, October 30 - Thriller: Tribute to Michael Jackson! Don't stop till you get enough this summer and Celebrate the Music of the undisputed King of Pop with "Thriller: Tribute to Michael Jackson." This show will pay tribute to Michael Jackson with a high-octane performances spanning the career of the late Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 and includes two hours of hit tunes such as "Smooth Criminal," "Wanna Be Starting Something," "Billie Jean," and "Thriller" in a theatrical dance show that will pay homage to the extraordinary spectacle of Jackson's legendary performances. Starring J. Moses Harper, Charles White and a host of other performers.
