Every Friday at noon, EST, Brown Paper Tickets posts upcoming events happening in the New York area. Here are hot tickets for events coming up. Check back for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Starts Tonight!! Nightfall on Miranga Island!  From the exciting minds of Justin Moran and Jon Roufaeal who brought you THE SPIDEY PROJECT, last winter's guerrilla theater hit and POPE! AN EPIC MUSICAL, last year's Fringe sensation, comes an all-new musical of epic proportions, NIGHTFALL ON MIRANGA ISLAND. NIGHTFALL ON MIRANGA ISLAND is an all new swashbuckling pirate adventure in three musical acts. Our hero, Declan, has been tracking the legendary pirate captain Vicious Martin La Foe for nearly a decade on a quest to rescue his sister, kidnapped those long years ago. Finally, he makes landfall on the lawless Miranga Island, where La Foe is known to make port. Filled with chaos, hilarity, catchy dance numbers, daring swordfights, and a little cross-dressing, this pirate musical will be an adventure so epic you'll explode.

Saturday, October 22 JAZZ... MAKE IT A DOUBLE "JAZZ MAKE IT A DOUBLE" features two highly imaginative and innovative jazz composers, Akihiro Yamamoto and Yutaka Uchida, and their original works. Both composers, who are also accomplished instrumentalists, will lead their groups to showcase a variety of tunes to realize their vision, philosophy and artistry. Yamamoto brings The Archi-tet, a sextet with three horns that paints colorful pictures with gorgeous sound. As the musical architect, Yamamoto sketches out his wild mental images and then turns them into reality through collaboration with skilled craftsmen. The group also features Uchida on drums. Uchida leads MUSOH, a quartet that features a fine blend of electric and acoustic sound. "Musoh" is a concept of Yin Yang, and it is the foremost characteristic of Uchida's compositions to present contrasting ideas, elements and materials in an exquisite balance.

Saturday, October 22 Kidrockers CMJ Showcase Kidrockers official CMJ show at the Living Room featured Datarock and Cookies. Craig Baldo and Roger Hailes host. Datarock is a Norwegian electro rock band and Cookies are a NYC based trio featuring the radiant vocals of Melissa Merrick, ex-Mobius Band singer/programmer guitarist Ben Sterling and Ian Ainley. Adults must be accompanied by a kid.

Sunday, October 23 Le Havre Going home again seems to be a theme this year, perhaps reflecting the general global malaise, not to mention the worldwide displacement of peoples. Indeed, Aki Kaurismaki's film focuses on the furor over immigration. Set in the eponymous city Le Havre on the Normandy coast, the film focuses on a former writer who now gets by shining shoes, a step downward that many can relate to. While his wife is in the hospital after keeling over cooking him dinner (another resonant moment), he encounters a young African refugee on the run from the authorities and helps him find his family. Le Havre reflects the deadpan humor and overall quirkiness that have made Kaurismaki an international favorite. The film played at this year's Cannes, New York, and Toronto film festivals.
