Hot Tickets: Seattle

September 08, 2011 10:37 AM

Every Thursday at noon, PST, Brown Paper Tickets will post upcoming events happening in the Seattle area. Here are hot tickets for events coming up. Check back for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Tonight, September 8 The Comedy Workshop at Odd Duck Studio:
A weekly open mic opportunity for professional and amateur comedians, sketch comedians, and improvisational actors/improvisers to test new material and to develop their acts, inspired by The Comedy Workshop and Comics Annex of Houston's Comedy scene in the 1980s and 1990s.

Friday, September 9 François Truffaut's The Soft Skin -- NEW 35mm PRINT! A haunting score by Georges Delerue enhances the mood in The Soft Skin, François Truffaut's dark and suspenseful follow-up to Jules and Jim. While on a business trip, married literary critic Pierre Lachenay (Jean Desailly) meets a beautiful airline hostess (Françoise Dorleac) and begins an affair. As Pierre's behavior becomes increasingly impulsive, his infidelity sparks a devastating act of jealousy and revenge.

Saturday, September 10 Equinox Studios Community Yard Sale: The artists of Equinox Studios are holding a community yard sale! Typical yard sale stuff like clothes, shoes, and furniture, plus art supplies, tools and even some original art!

Saturday, September 10 Somalia Relief Poetry Jam: The Somalia Relief Poetry Jam, featuring Def Jam Poet Mark Gonzales, raises money to help fight the famine in the horn of Africa. Money raised will go to The African Future, a non-profit organization that has people on the ground buying food and water for those suffering.

Saturday, September 10 Aqueduct, BOAT and Fishboy at Columbia City Theater: Remember when this song was everywhere? They have a lot more songs (as a lot of local fans know), and they'll be playing them on Saturday. BOAT and Fishboy are pretty awesome, too.

Know of any other events happening in the Seattle area this week? Post them in the comments section.
