Friday, July 1 KUOW's 'Weekday' Live at Town Hall Host Steve Scher and team come to Town Hall for a special two hour live broadcast of Weekday. The first hour will feature special guest Sheramn Alexie along with musical guest Rachel Flotard (Visqueen), the second is anchored by the popular segment "Your Take on the News," an onstage roundtable featuring Knute "Mossback" Berger, Joni Balter of the Seattle Times, and The Stranger's Eli Sanders.
Saturday, July 2 Red, White and Dead Zombie Block Party The horde is baaaaacck! 2010 was the definitely the "Year of the Zombie" in Seattle kicking off with our annual "Red, White and Dead Zombie Walk" in Fremont returning the title of "Zombie Capital of the World" to Seattle. Last year, over 6,500 people attended with 4,233 people dressed in full zombie attire. The festivities included a music concert, Thriller Dance, mobile food court, the "Dead Rising 2" premier and of course the world famous walk!
Saturday, July 2 The Boom Festival The Boom Festival - Independence day weekend electronic music festival featuring Isaac (Netherlands), Caffeine (Chicago), Dieselboy (Brooklyn), Bare (Los Angeles), Ryle (Seattle/Los Angeles), Oblivion (Minneapolis) and the Darksiders (Reno). Also featuring support from local DJs: Tap Attack, Aaron Simpson, The Dowlz, Marble, Soulkid, MYK and Neo.
Wednesday, July 6 "Hype!" film screening with director Doug Pray "Hype!" (1996) examines the Seattle scene as it became the focus of a merging of punk rock, heavy metal, and innovation. Building from the grass roots, a phenomenon was born. More than just an examination of the music, the film is a look at how this artistic movement had a major effect on American culture, musically, socially and stylistically.
