The 48 Hour Film Project Hits Hookset, New Hampshire this Wednesday!

June 14, 2011 2:32 PM
Filmmakers, think you could write, shoot, edit and score your own short film in two days? Well, that's what the folks over at the 48 Hour Film Project ask their participants to do. On Friday night prospective filmmakers get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre to include in their movies. Films must be completed in 48 hours and they will be shown in a local theater, usually within the next week.

The 48 Hour Film Project was the brainchild of Mark Ruppert, who in 2001, had the idea to make a film in 48 hours. He enlisted fellow Washington DC filmmakers who formed their own teams and joined Mark in his experiment. Initially they wondered if the films would even be watchable but to their surpise that the results were not only watchable but super-creative and often totally hilarious.

Now, ten years later more than 300 competitions have taken place around the world and about 12,500 teams have participated. This year on Wednesday, June 15, the 2011 World Tour is coming to Hookset, New Hampshire and Brown Paper Tickets is ticketing the screenings. Twenty-six films will be shown in two separate screening blocks and audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the filmmakers after the event and to cast their vote for the audience favorite.  Get your tickets for both screenings here.
