MORRISVILLE, NC, January 3, 2011:  Tobacco Road Tours (TRT), the Triangle areas only daily guided tour service business introduces a limited engagement African American Cultural Heritage Tour.

In celebration of Black History Month (February) and Martin Luther King's national holiday (January 17th), TRT's "African American Cultural Heritage Tour" is a motorized, professionally guided tour designed for guests seeking an educational, enlightening and FUN African American experience.

Explore the lives and accomplishments of African American North Carolinian's from the antebellum period to the Civil Rights era. Tour dates include: Saturday, January 15th & Sunday January 16th. February dates include each Saturday & Sunday. 2/5, 2/6, 2/12, 2/13, 2/19, 2/20, 2/16 and 2/27. Departure time is 1:00 PM leaving from Briggs Hardware Building, 220 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, NC  27601 and returning by 4:00 PM. Ample parking close by.

To know where you are headed, you must know from where you came! One must retrieve the past in order to move forward.  Out of the plentiful and varied history of African Americans in North Carolina grew a rich and diverse culture. That culture thrives today in the Triangle. And it is blessed with an even richer heritage that is just waiting to be explored. We invite you to join us visiting museums, galleries, and cultural centers in Raleigh to view examples of African American culture, business, creativity, faith, music, artistry, cuisine and much more.

Managing partner Brad Kennedy states: "some of the most outstanding contributions to our state's heritage are the talents and achievements of African Americans. Their legacy embraces a commitment to preserving, protecting, and building stronger communities. We hope you will join us to experience the special blend of African American history, culture and arts that makes the Triangle dynamic and unique".

Destinations on the African American TRT's African American Cultural Heritage tour include MLK Gardens, Old City Cemetery; key Churches (such as Tupper Memorial), Shaw University (Estey Hall), African American Cultural Complex, Leonard School of Medicine, Mordecai Historic Park and much more.  The tour lasts approximately 3 hour in duration.
