Why Live Events?

 Featured Producer: Harvest Theatre
The Harvest Theatre of Toledo, Ohio launches its first season this fall with the world premiere of Gary Giovannetti's play "Night by Michelangelo," presented at the Collingwood Arts Center in Toledo's Old West End. The Harvest Theatre is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit theatre, founded on the belief that the community of Toledo deserves the highest quality in performing arts and that, to paraphrase a famous movie line, "if you build it, they will come." This inaugural season will emphasize the theatre's goal to raise the bar on live theatrical entertainment in Northwest Ohio.

The Theatre wishes to professionally produce new works from up-and-coming playwrights, classics of the world stage, modern pieces from Broadway, off-Broadway and the best of regional theatres across the country, and finally, musicals of all walks. They will continue in this mission with particular attention drawn to the best actors, writers, technical personnel, and designers in the Toledo region. Harvest founder Bill Quinlan believes, "Theatre should be more than just putting on plays well or putting bodies in seats. It's about being a family. It's about involving the community."

Harvest is focused on the betterment and enrichment of the arts and culture of Toledo, Ohio and its surrounding areas. The Theatre hopes to work with other charitable organizations in bettering the City and furthering awareness of dedicated groups also helping to make Toledo and Northwest Ohio a great place to live, work and play. With every performance the theatre sets the stage for a wide variety of audience experience with, hopefully, everyone coming out of it a bit richer for having taken the journey. Quinlan believes, "It's about creating a relationship between actor and audience, wherein an audience member might leave a theatre with a new set of eyes through which to see the world. Ultimately, it's about inviting as many people as possible to share that vision."

Such performances are meant to entertain, educate and elevate the city of Toledo and speak to its diverse community; it is therefore important for the theatre to reach a wide audience and keep their prices affordable. Harvest Theatre celebrates this inaugural year with a wide variety of pricing specials intended to bolster attendance and make that vision affordable to all, including: Wednesday night "Pay What You Can Night"; Thursday "Buy One, Get ½ off a second ticket." Other specials include the "holiday special" where a ticket stub from any other holiday event will get $5 off a ticket to Harvest's Holiday show; and the Harvest Theatre "Season Pass," a season voucher that will get the holder into the same show as many times as they'd like.

The Fall Season begins this October with tickets available through Brown Paper Tickets.
