Why Live Events?

Celebrate Diversity
Brown Paper Tickets is proud to host myriad events celebrating a variety of diverse backgrounds. From the exciting Tributo Flamenco, a Bay Area evening of flamenco music and dance at La Pena Cultural Center (April 21), to the creative spoken word adventures Seattle Poetry Slam's 2007 Grand Slam (April 22), Brown Paper Tickets has an impressive selection of multicultural events to choose from.

Many of the film festivals listed present documentaries and films focused on the human experience here and around the world; the 1st Annual Subtitle Film Festival in Los Angeles features ten cutting-edge Asian films over four days (April 12-15), with each of them winning awards and honors at previous film festivals including two that were shown at the celebrated Cannes Film Festival.

For those who enjoy the theater, The Magnificence of the Disaster--currently running at The Marsh Theater in San Francisco--is a popular one-woman show with a unique observation of the new South; the San Francisco Chronicle called it "smart, challenging, disarmingly funny and unmistakably affecting".

Another noteworthy event focused on one man's experience is Hearing Voices; presented in Portland, Oregon on April 27, celebrated Northwest author and film director Sherman Alexie will read from his new 2007 novel, "Flight", and his poetry will be accompanied by Native American Jazz artist, Jim Pepper.

And in Chicago at Cicero Stadium, the hottest cultural phenomenon to hit our nation continues with the women's roller derby season opener for the Windy City Rollers on April 21.

Brown Paper Tickets is excited to welcome events and performances steeped in culture that educate people in celebrating our differences; search for events in your state that honor your heritage, customs, folklore, and interests, whether they be unorthodox or universal. Brown Paper Tickets has something for everyone.
