 Food As Art
The Third Annual Food As Art fundraising gala features cuisine from some of Seattle's most well-known and respected African-American Chefs and restaurateurs. You can sample from 16 elaborately decorated chef's tables including roasted lamb from the Seattle Tennis Club, a down-home peach cobbler from The Wellington, seafood and saffron risotto from Andaluca and doro wat from Hidmo Eritrean Cafe. In fact, their table is so festooned with baskets and art from Eritrea that you may feel like you've momentarily left the country and landed in Northeast Africa. Some of the other sure favorites are fried plantains and pineapple guacamole from marjorie, and stuffed artichokes from Osteria La Spiga. And if all that's not enough, it's, for lack of a better term, "All you can eat"! This fundraiser is destined to be one of Seattle's signature events. The food is outstanding, the crowd is diverse, and the vibe is chilled. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly toward expanding the Central District Forum's capacity to offer the Seattle area unique and cutting-edge theater, music, readings, and talks about the black experience in America.

In addition to the great food, Food As Art will also have music spun by DJ Hitmann, a silent auction of gourmet food items and African-American art, as well as a special award presentation honoring the decades-long accomplishments of the historic restaurant Thompson's Point of View in the Central District.
